terms & conditions

These Terms and Conditions are subject to revision without prior notice. The Client must read and understand these terms before entering into a Commission Agreement with the Artist. Once the Client enters into a Commission Agreement with the Artist, it is assumed that the Client has agreed to all Terms and Conditions.

0. Definitions

  • Artist: The individual producing the Commission.

  • Client: The individual purchasing the Commission.

  • Commission: The form of service provided by the Artist to the Client per the Commission Agreement. “Commission,” “Art[work],” "Art[piece]," “Image[ry],” "Piece[s]," "Portrait [s]," and “Project[s]” are used interchangeably herein and in Commission correspondence.

  • Commission Agreement: The discussion, documented via email or social media, in which the Artist and Client agree on the subject and type of Commission to be produced, the Commission price, the point in time when the Artist is expected to start the 'Rendering,' and – if applicable – the Commission deadline, early termination circumstances, rush fees, and/or whether or not the Commission can be immediately displayed in the Artist’s portfolio.

  • Rendering: The point in time, when the Client has approved the sketch and the Artist, starts working on the Commission.

I. General Terms

  1. The Artist has the right to refuse to make any Commission request without having the need to explain the reason.

  2. The Artist reserves the right to stop working on a Commission or cancel a Commission request due to poor communication, rude/inappropriate behavior, or a breach of these Terms of Service.

  3. By commissioning the Artist, the Client is only purchasing the Artist’s labor. The Artist retains all rights to the Commission, which include but are not limited to: Distribution, reproduction, and use of the Commission for the promotion of the Artist.

  4. The Client must specify the content of their Commission to the best of their ability prior to the Commission Agreement. A complex Commission may incur additional fees that will be defined and agreed upon in the Commission Agreement prior to the Rendering.

  5. The Client must specify the desired size of the Commission prior to the Commissioned Agreement or otherwise, it will be delivered on a Standard Medium Size Digital Canvas (24x18in) with a resolution of 350 dpi. A larger size may incur additional fees.

  6. If the Commission is time-sensitive, a rush fee may be applied. The price of this will be defined and agreed upon in the Commission Agreement prior to the Rendering. Otherwise, the Client can expect to receive the Commission in a period of time no longer than four weeks.

  7. If the Commission is defined as confidential in the Commission Agreement, the Artist will not display it publicly on any social media. However, the Commission is still part of the Artist's portfolio and can be used as a work sample at any time.

  8. The Client may not distribute, reproduce, or obtain profit from the Commission.

  9. The client may not edit, alter, or trace the Commission without the express written permission of the Artist, or as agreed upon in the Commission Agreement prior to the Rendering.

  10. The Client may display the Commission in Personal Profiles as long as the Artist’s name (“alexslilcorner”) is prominently displayed and/or the signature on the Commission remains visible.

  11. The Client may not display a Commission outside of personal use or in a public space unless the Commission is executed under new Terms of Service agreed upon in a Commercial Purpose Commission Agreement prior to the Rendering. Additional fees apply.

  12. Under no circumstances may the Client submit a Commission in any type of contest.

  13. Under no circumstances may the Client submit, sell, or use the Commission as an NFT.

  14. Commissions will be provided to the Client via an online download location (Google Drive) in .png or .jpeg format; this does not include the Commission native files (e.g., .psd, .clip, .tif, etc.), unless agreed in the Commission Agreement. Additional fees apply.

  15. The Artist will send the Client two (2) to three (3) emails with updates of the Commission during the creation process, giving the Client the right to make one (1) small change per email sent by the artist. Major changes in the general composition of the Commission incur additional fees.

  16. The Client may request an additional update of the Commission at any time during the creation process, but may not request additional changes.

frequently asked questions

How do I know if you are currently accepting commissions? You can either check my Commissions page where I update the number of slots available for each month/period of time or ask me directly via email or social media. Links to all my social media accounts and email address are on my Home and About pages. How do commissions work? Most Commissions begin with a simple description of what you’re looking for submitted to me via email and/or social media. Then we chat to discuss the specifics of your Commission and once we achieve a general consensus, I proceed to make a sketch which I'll send to you for approval. If you like the composition and don't want any changes, I start the Rendering process of the commission, aka the coloring of your piece. After that, you'll receive a couple of emails with updates on the progress of the Commission. You'll be able to request small changes during this process, but these are limited to one (1) per email sent by the Artist. Of course, you can request additional updates whenever you want, but you aren't allowed to ask for any changes if you're the one requesting the updates. For more information on this please read my Terms & Conditions page. When the Commission is done, I send you another email with a very low-resolution screenshot of the final piece and ask you to complete your payment. Once I receive the notification that the payment has been made, I send you a link with direct access to a folder on my Google Drive where you will be able to safely download high-resolution copies of your Commission. When can I expect to get my commissioned artwork?Commission times vary widely from several days to several weeks, depending on the type of Commission and my personal schedule. But in general, hyper-realistic portraits take 2-4 weeks to be completed (after accepting the sketch). My other styles take half that time, sometimes even less. What size will my commission have?Unless you request a special size and resolution during the Commission Agreement process, all Commissions are sent on a Standard Medium Size Digital Canvas (24 x 18in) with a resolution of 350 dpi.Are all commissions digital only?At the moment, yes. If you're interested in purchasing merchandise with some of my pieces and designs, make sure to check out my Redbubble and Society6 stores. What payment methods do you accept? At the moment only PayPal and Ko-Fi. A link to use any of the payment methods mentioned above will be sent to you during the final process of the Commission.
